Fabric First approach key to energy efficiency

As the importance of energy efficient and low carbon homes becomes a central concern to developers, homebuilders and homeowners across the UK, a dynamic Fabric First approach to building design can reap huge dividends across the board – an airtight building envelope without expensive bolt-on renewable and microgeneration technologies.

You can find out more on how to deliver this type of energy efficient structure at a special one day conference and exhibition designed specifically for Timber Frame and Structural Insulated Panel (SIPS) technology providers. They will be showcasing the benefits of adopting Fabric First methodologies to create and deliver 21st Century energy efficient residential structures and will appeal to architects, specifiers, building designers and main contractors.

Building on a sold-out event held at BRE, Watford earlier this year, Fabric First will take place at the National Motorcycle Museum, Solihull, on the 27th February 2013. Supported by the UK Timber Frame Association (UKTFA) and the UKSIPS Association, the in-depth programme of presentations and conference programme is also supported by an exhibition of 30 technology providers and networking sessions.

“The UKTFA is very excited about joining forces once again with UKSIPS to deliver the Fabric First Event,” said Andrew Carpenter, Chief Executive of the UKTFA.

“After the undoubted success of their collaboration in bringing a similar event to the BRE, both parties are eagerly looking forward to this forthcoming event. It is gratifying also to gain the support of Paul King of the UKGBC and Rob Pannell of Zero Carbon Hub for this event as evidence we are at the heart of the global drive for Sustainable Construction.
"We look forward to welcoming architects, contractors, housebuilders and indeed anybody with an interest in providing a low cost low carbon construction industry to this spectacular event.”

Confirmed speakers include Rob Pannell, Zero Carbon Hub, Stewart Dalgarno, Stewart Milne Timber Systems, Chris Gaze, BRE, Simon Orrells, Frame Wise and Charles Stewart from SIPS Industries.

Delegate places are limited to a maximum of 250 and tickets cost £95+VAT per person. Tickets include refreshments, car parking and full day access to conference and exhibition. The full day programme runs from 8.30am to 4.30pm.
