FACTA MEMBERS VISIT CORUS TUBE

Members of the Fabricated Access Covers Trade Association (FACTA) were fortunate to have the opportunity recently, to visit Corus Tube at Corby, Northamptonshire.

Jim Parley, Product and Market Development, welcomed 17 FACTA visitors, who were taken round the Corby site. The tubes manufacturing site at Corby is part of the Tata Steel Group, the 6th largest steel producer in the world, with 84,000 employees across 5 continents, producing 27 million tonnes of steel per annum.

Tata Steel, Corby, is home to over 600 employees and the site covers some 250 acres of land. Corby produces high frequency induction welded tubes in a range of diameters between 17.2 and 193.7mm. There are 5 manufacturing mills on site, which together can supply up to 400,000 tonnes on tubes per annum. Tubes are produced either by a hot finishing or cold forming process in various shapes, including round, square, rectangular and oval.

FACTA is the leading industry body at the forefront of the fabricated access cover industry. Members’ products include access covers made from a wide range of steel gauges and specifications.
