Flexflooring Ltd, the safety surfacing experts, has recently completed an installation of the most intricate surface design they have ever been involved with. Requiring millimetre precision, the splash pad surface at Barking Park is a great example of the high level of attention to detail that Flexflooring brings to every project.
Barking & Dagenham Council have recently restored Barking Park Lido, turning it into a Community Hub with cafe, educational facilities and enclosed wet play area. Working with Ustigate Waterplay, Flexflooring Ltd were brought in to install our Rubbaflex Safety Surface on the wet play area.
Once one site, Flexflooring diamond ground the new concrete pad to remove any laitance and create a strong key for Rubbaflex Safety Surfacing to bond to. This was followed by a week setting out the detailed geometric design which had to be millimetre perfect to tie in with the intricate water jet design.
Our Rubbaflex Safety Surface was installed using four colours to create an eye catching Art Deco inspired design. Given its intricate nature, the 450m² installation took longer than a single or dual colour installation, but was still completed within two weeks. The colour scheme has been enhanced by using a special UV resistant resin binder to greatly reduce colour change or fade.
On completion, the overall effect is stunning. The wet play area is a superb edition to the previously derelict lido offering a safe, interactive play area and dramatic water feature rolled into one!
