Achieving the highest rating for a residential aluminium window in The Green Guide to Specification (B rating), the new Crown Window System from Sapa Building Systems will greatly assist specifiers and developers seeking compliance with the more advanced levels of The Code for Sustainable Homes.
Ideal as a replacement system for steel windows in existing buildings due to its exceptionally slim frame sightline, this thermally broken aluminium casement window has particular application for window replacement in home improvement, social housing and private residential apartment blocks, but is not limited to these segments.
The very slim frame sightlines (35mm for fixed lights and 59mm for an opening light plus outer frame) also make the Crown system a great option for maximising daylight if replacing other materials. The frame depth of 75mm allows easy replacement of existing timber frames, while a narrow frame option of just 52mm allows for easy replacement of steel frames.
Capable of achieving a Window Energy Rating (WER) of A and a Uw value of 1.6W/m2k with just conventional double glazed sealed units, the Crown system is independently tested to BSEN6375 Part 1 for high weather performance (600Pa air and water, 2000Pa wind resistance) plus resistance to mechanical loads to BSEN 6375 Part2.
It is available in a range of profile shapes, from ‘Softline’ traditional ovolo through to contemporary square and ultra slim. A choice of straight or cranked handles gives options for reduced fabricator stockholding stock (straight) or enhanced ergonomics (cranked).
