Dovehouse Interiors has commenced on site for a £2.5m fit out project at the University of Brighton. The multimillion pound project, providing over 3,700 sq m of state of the art facilities, has been designed by Proctor and Matthews and will be completed in time for the new 2012 academic year.
The 16 week fit out incorporates the combined use of modern integrated building management systems as well as a passive ventilation system which will create a highly efficient work space. Modern lecture theatres, laboratories as well as University offices will be created for cross-departmental use, including the Nursing and Midwifery Department, within the extended Post Office building in the centre of Hastings.
Upon announcing the start of the fit out stage of the project, Ross Coker, Managing Director at Dovehouse Interiors, said: “First class facilities are becoming increasingly important to universities as increased tuition fees are raising student expectations. To remain competitive high quality, attractive work spaces and services are essential. In the provision of this state of the art building, the University of Brighton is wholeheartedly embracing this approach and we are delighted to be working alongside them on the delivery of this new facility.”
