Ford Windows is the latest specialist new build window fabricator to be granted Secured by Design status on its Eurologik 70 mm PVC-U Window System.
The company has gained certification to BS7950: 1997 Specification for enhanced security performance of casement and tilt/turn windows for domestic applications (BBA certificate number 05/4242 refers).
Only companies that manufacture windows to the highest standards and that have passed stringent test criteria are granted Secured By Design licensed status.
Secured by Design is a crime prevention initiative managed by ACPO CPI Limited on behalf of the UK Associated of Chief Police Officers (ACPO). It is designed to support the building industry in designing out crime on homes and commercial premises.
Ford Windows will now be entitled to use the Secured by Design logo and promote the term 'Police Preferred Specification' on its Eurocell Eurologik window products that have passed the tests specified by ACPO Secured by Design.
Gaining the official UK Police standard for enhanced security will allow Ford Windows to provide customers with a range of Eurologik products that have been shown to reduce the opportunity for crime, creating a safer and more secure residence for occupiers.
"Having your house broken into is extremely distressing, especially around Christmas, and we are therefore delighted to be able to offer a window specification that meets recognised police security standards," said Roger Sidebottom, Managing Director of Ford Windows. "Gaining Secured by Design on the Eurologik profile system adds to its existing popularity with customers for aesthetics, low maintenance and thermal efficiency."
A number of specifications were tested as part of Ford Windows winning Secured By Design status. Visits to the company's production facility in Sheffield ensured that the windows tested were representative of those supplied to customers and this will be followed by a programme of regular visits to ensure continued quality standards.
With over 30 years experience in the construction industry, the company is able to offer customers total window management from advice on specification through to a high quality installation service and a dedicated Customer Care department.
Ford Windows offers casement, tilt & turn and vertical sliding windows, patio, French and bi-fold doors. It holds BBA (British Board of Agrement), BS Kitemark and SSIP (Safety Schemes in Procurement) certification, in addition to becoming Secured By Design licence holders.
