Hanson UK has launched the most sustainable stock brick range available in the market.
Produced at the company’s new factory in Measham, Leicestershire, the Hanson Ecostock™ range consists of 16 soft-mud bricks which combine a consistent quality, high aesthetic appeal with low-carbon credentials.
Hanson Ecostock™ reflects the sustainable manufacturing process at the new £50 million factory. Measham is the largest ‘soft-mud’ brick plant in Europe and has been designed to combine locally sourced recycled raw materials with low energy, low waste processes to make stock bricks with the lowest embodied CO2 available.
Jim Claydon, managing director of Hanson Building Products, said: “The manufacture of the Ecostock™ range uses 50 per cent less energy than is used to make other stock bricks.
“Our investment in the Measham plant and the launch of this new brick range demonstrates our commitment to developing solutions to meet the demands of sustainable modern construction.”
Available nationally, the Hanson Ecostock™ range offers builders a variety of finishes. It comprises of thrown and pressed bricks in a range of colours – from plain reds and buffs to bricks with blackened and white faces that give an aged, reclaimed look. The Hanson Ecostock™ Camden Yellow Multi, for example, has been developed to look like a classic London yellow stock.
The launch of the Hanson Ecostock TM range coincides with the production of a comprehensive new brick guide, which contains all of the company’s extensive range of clay products and brands – Ecostock ™, Cradley, Red Bank and the original London brick.
Hanson UK’s national marketing manager Paul Lacey explains: “The Brick Guide is an easy-to-use brochure to help our customers chose the right brick for them.
“Bricks are available in a wide variety of colours and textures and our full range covers the requirements of any project, for the merchant, builder, self builder, architect, developer and planner.
“The guide has been designed to be user-friendly – making it easy to find the right colour and texture you require. It also includes useful information on good site practice and brickwork design.”
A video of bricks being made at Hanson’s new Measham brick factory can be viewed on the Hanson website. The two minute video outlines the sustainability features of the Measham plant and shows the state-of-the-art brick production process.
