Helifix micro-piles economically overcome subsidence problems

Helifix’s versatile and technically well proven micro-piles efficiently overcome foundation settlement and subsidence which has resulted in cracked or buckled building walls. They provide a technically superior and far more cost-effective solution than expensive, disruptive and time consuming stabilisation methods that require extensive excavations. An engineer assesses each situation and designs repairs based on the damage and weight of the individual property and the local ground conditions. Installation is quick and easy causing little noise and no vibrations. Micro-piles require no large plant or equipment or mass excavations - typically just a 750mm x 750mm pit is required per pile - and cause minimal disruption to the building fabric and its occupants. They require negligible soil removal and are simply ‘screwed’ into the ground using lightweight hand-held equipment, making them ideal for situations with restricted access. Adjustable brackets are fitted to the micro-piles, placed under the foundations and loaded with a hydraulic jack to prevent further property settlement by transferring the weight of the building to the piles. Typical ultimate load is up to 220kN per pile, with 3:1 safety factor, giving up to 7 tonnes per pile. Helifix micro-piles, with high tensile steel shafts, are available in lightweight to heavy duty versions. When they are used in conjunction with Helifix masonry repair products, the above ground structure is reliably repaired, reinforced and fully secured. Once the micro-piles have been installed and the above ground masonry repairs are finished the structural stabilisation of the property is complete and all repairs are fully concealed. Full turnkey packages are available. www.helifix.co.uk
