2 Save Energy Ltd, manufacturer of the OWL brand of home energy monitors, has just introduced a totally new range of OWL Intuition ‘Smart’ Heating Controls based on their tried and tested wireless technology.
David McTurk, Managing Director of 2 Save Energy Ltd, said: “You could say that the programming and control of domestic heating and hot water has finally caught up with the Internet Age.
“We want to work with professional heating engineers and installers to promote our new OWL Intuition Smart Heating Control range to home owners; with our Internet based advanced wireless technology they will be able to programme and operate their heating and hot water settings from any PC, laptop, tablet – even their smartphone – and from wherever they happen to be.”
With any Internet connection home owners can login to OWL’s proprietary software platform. They can then control and adjust their heating and hot water settings with a clear, easy-to-use web dashboard.
There are numerous benefits of such an Internet based system to the home owner:
- Heading home early – turn the heating on before setting off from work
- Turning the heating and hot water on from wherever they are on holiday – no more returning home to a cold house
- Changing heating and hot water settings from a smartphone – wherever they happen to be
- Staying away from home longer – delaying the heating coming on so no wasting energ.
McTurk added: “When a home owner has total control over their hot water and heating settings using our Smart Heating Controls they can significantly reduce energy consumption – by up to 20%. The ‘payback’ for the home owner can be less than 12 months.”
There are two systems for the installer to fit: one specifically designed for combi boilers and the other for conventional systems.
With a combi boiler system the home owner will have a compact, simple and stylish Room Sensor that replaces their existing room thermostat. This provides simple heating control with 3 push-button settings – Comfort, Standby and Away. It talks to the OWL Intuition dashboard via the Network OWL Gateway, which is plugged into their Internet router. They can then access and use the dashboard from any web enabled device. This is OWL Intuition-c (or Intuition-cw for wireless installations).
For conventional heating systems the home owner has both the Room Sensor (for heating) and an additional Tank Sensor for hot water control. This is OWL Intuition-h.
Both systems come with comprehensive and easy-to-follow installation instructions and a downloadable home owner user guide too.
