Ideal Standard has unveiled a breakthrough in bathroom design at ISH.
Concept Space is a range of ceramics, baths and storage solutions designed to transform any space – however small or awkward – into a beautiful bathroom.
The new range will be on show at ISH in Frankfurt on stand C11, Hall 3.1. The stand is also a showcase for Ideal Standard’s new brand platform; A Beautiful Use of Space.
User-centred design is at the heart of Ideal Standard’s approach to product development, underpinned by a deep understanding of bathroom ergonomics. The company’s main objective is to help people create their ideal bathroom, whatever that means to them.
Bathrooms need to meet a variety of needs in the modern household. On any one day the bathroom may have to be an oasis of relaxation, a room for reinvigoration, a space for transformation and even somewhere to play.
It is this understanding of the multiple roles of modern bathrooms that lies at the heart of Concept Space, which extends and enhances the Concept range from award winning UK designer Robin Levien.
The collection combines ceramics, including short projection basins and compact WCs, and baths that are cleverly designed to fit into small or awkward spaces.
When it comes to storage, the range is all about making the best use of available space, whether it’s behind or above the WC, below the basin or anywhere else in the bathroom. Wall hung and modular units help create a spacious, sophisticated and contemporary look.
Units are available in up to six finishes and are designed with minimal projection to make bathrooms look and feel spacious.
A host of innovative design features are used across the range. Concept Space wall hung basin units combine soft close external deep drawers with soft close internal shallow drawers to create maximum storage space.
Modular storage boxes in three sizes fill the upper drawer but can be reconfigured, allowing for flexibility. Additional storage is available on the side of the unit of the biggest models.
Guest basin units, available as both wall hung and floorstanding units, include an L-shaped door for easy access and reduce door projection when opened. A handy storage box on the inside of the door allows storage around the waste fitting.
Extra storage space is made available by offsetting the WC to the left or right within the WC storage unit, leaving room for a handy cupboard in the offset void.
The Concept Space storage range is completed with a selection of freestyle storage units including fill in shelf units, top boxes and short projection tall units.
Concept Space Cube basins can be used wall mounted, with semi pedestal, full pedestal or furniture. They have a short 380mm projection, which is a significant space saving when compared with the 480mm projection of a standard Concept Cube vanity basin. Concept Space Arc and Sphere basins are also available in the range.
Concept Space guest basins are suitable for even smaller spaces. These 45cm basins are used with wall hung or floorstanding guest basin units which, along with the basins themselves, are available as right or left handed variants to fit in any corner and still seem spacious.
A range of compact WCs and bidets is included in the collection. Available as close coupled, back-to-wall and wall hung suites, Concept Space WCs reduce projection by as much as 75mm, allowing for better planning and flexibility in small or awkward spaces. An innovative corner WC has been specially designed to fit where wall space is tight or where there would not usually be enough legroom for a standard WC. The corner WC offers a clever way to utilise the total space in a bathroom.
Concept Space baths are shaped to fit in any space, with square shower baths and Spacemaker baths available. Square shower baths are available both left and right handed and as either 150cm or 170 cm in length. Flexible brassware positioning allows the bath to be adapted for either double ended bathing or with conventional bath shower mixers. The contemporary square design is combined with the added comfort of the ergonomic Concept backrest making it perfect for bathing and showering. The shower screen sits alongside a generous 85cm deep showering area and opens inwards or outwards, making it ideal where space is at a premium.
Square shaped baths are available in Idealform or Idealform Plus+, which includes double reinforcement and a unique legset for increased strength and rigidity. Idealform Plus+ also keeps water warmer for longer.
A 170cm Concept Spacemaker bath has the same features as Concept Space baths but narrows to 550mm at one end to accommodate awkward bathroom shapes or obstructive windows or doorways. Concept Spacemaker is available in idealform and, like all baths in the Concept range, it offers ergonomically curved bath rests for ultimate comfort.
Robin Levien comments: “Concept Space brings the idea of A Beautiful Use of Space to smaller bathrooms. With the average UK bathroom no bigger than a king size bed, this big thinking for small spaces solves a real problem for consumers.”
Pieces from the Concept Space ranges combine perfectly with products already offered within the existing Concept range, which adds even more flexibility to Concept Space solutions.
