Industry bowled over by success at INCA 2014 Awards

The Insulated Render and Cladding Association (INCA) 2014 Awards were presented by former England cricketer Darren Gough at a black-tie gala dinner in front of 300 industry guests.

The awards showcased how external wall insulation (EWI) has been used successfully over the past year to ensure buildings are not only energy efficient but have a positive impact on the people who live or work in them and the wider community.

The coveted Project of the Year Award was won by Saint-Gobain Weber Ltd and Primars Coatings Services Ltd for Kilburn Gate in London, a 1950s residential development which was refurbished to ensure a high level of en ergy efficiency for residents but not at the expense of the striking, original architectural features.

There were also awards for sustainability and training which were won by Brett Specialized Aggregates and SERS Energy Solutions respectively.

Other award winners on the night included Plastering Contractors (Stanmore), SPS envirowall, Sto, Westdale Services, and Woodman Brothers & Sons.

Following on from the huge success of last year’s inaugural event and with support from a range of stakeholders including CITB, E.ON and QANW, the event at the prestigious Sheraton Park Lane Hotel in London was the perfect platform to showcase how EWI is ‘Transforming Buildings, Changing Lives’ to the benefit of individuals, families and local communities.

INCA Chairman Pádraig Barry, undertaking his first official engagement since being elected in July, said: "It has been a difficult year for the EWI industry and changes to ECO and GDHIF have left many with a feeling of uncertainty.

"That is why I am particularly proud to see our members rising to the challenge in the Awards and it was very rewarding to see the wide range of projects that not only demonstrate skill and innovation, but have helped so many people in fuel poverty.”
