ISG has successfully completed a £3 million casino for Grosvenor Casinos Ltd in Reading, Berkshire with the refurbishment of a 30,000 sq. ft. former furniture store.
A mainstream leisure destination, the new Grosvenor G Casino was delivered by ISG in just 20-weeks, including full strip out, extensive internal and external remodelling, bespoke fit out and landscaping. ISG worked with the client’s supply chain to manage every detail, including installation of the casino’s gaming tables and specialist mechanical and electrical services.
The project comprised a full strip out of the existing single-storey building to shell and core, removing mezzanine sales areas, windows and ground level floors, and modifying the number and location of entrances and exits. A new composite metal cladding roof was overlaid onto the existing structure to improve the building’s overall thermal performance, whilst the primary elevations to the front and side of the building were also enhanced with new composite metal and feature rainscreen cladding panels.
Internally, ISG carried out extensive remodelling, installing multiple split-level raised access floors and numerous feature plaster ceilings. The space was configured to create a wide range of casino facilities, including the main gaming floor, poker rooms, a lounge, dining room and associated commercial kitchen and three bars, one of which is a show bar with a stage and acoustic isolation partitions.
The fit out also included the delivery of a meeting room, team member change and locker rooms and drinks cellars to service the three bars. Bespoke joinery items with integral LED feature lighting and scene-setting have been custom-made by ISG for each of the hospitality areas in a complex programme requiring careful co-ordination of services on site. The mechanical and electrical installation also included CCTV and security systems, computerised systems for the gaming tables and extensive feature lighting, including LEDs, strip lights and pendants.
Andy Demetriou, operations director at ISG, commented: “This project has successfully been delivered within an extremely tight time-frame and to incredibly high standards, with bespoke finishes throughout. Working closely with the client and its supply chain, ISG has co-ordinated the wide variety of internal finishes and services, demonstrating the importance of precision project management in delivering complex and highly challenging schemes on time and within budget.”
