Jablite Launches Innovative Insulation for Fragile Profiled Roofs

Following a rigorous innovation process that was supported by the DECC/TSB Invest in Innovative Refurbishment Fund, Jablite is launching Flat Roof Profiled+ a lightweight, reinforced, EPS (expanded polystyrene) over-roof insulation system.

“Fragile, leaky profile roofs can be a headache for building owners, facilities managers and roofing contractors! They can be difficult to treat and if the roof is profiled asbestos cement, there are limited options available. It’s not uncommon to see existing asbestos profiled roofs carefully removed at great expense,” explains Steve Broadhurst, Technical Manager.

“With our new Jablite Flat Roof Profiled+ you can give a decrepit, profiled roof a new lease of life. If it is an asbestos cement roof, we can advise you on the process to use in conjunction with our product to safely encapsulate the asbestos cement.”

The Jablite EPS insulation is cut, using CNC technology, to fit the shape of any existing profiled roof. The thermal performance of an aged, profiled roof can be substantially improved and the insulation thickness can be specified to achieve your required U-values.

In addition, the roof is weatherproofed over the insulation by way of a number of roofing membranes or even a new profiled finish. As a result, a fragile roof can be transformed into a safe, dry, warm roof that will significantly reduce the building’s carbon footprint.

This exciting, innovation in flat roof insulation is designed to work as an over-roof system explains Steve, “The insulation has galvanised, interlocking, steel sections running through the core of the product, which transfer loads – such as snow – to the existing roof support structure. This ensures the long term structural integrity and strength of the roof.”

Jablite Flat Roof Profiled+ is an innovative solution to the problem of upgrading the thermal performance of old and fragile profiled roofs. It can be used, in conjunction with specialist asbestos products, to safely encapsulate asbestos cement roofs.
