The outstanding service provided by Johnstone’s Technical Advisory Department has ensured that a six-week refurbishment at Doncaster Racecourse was completed in style and on time.
The Old Weighing Room restaurant and bar, formerly known as Silks, has undergone an extensive refurbishment ahead of the busy summer season with products from Johnstone’s ensuring both the interior and exterior have a quality finish.
From the outset, Johnstone’s worked closely alongside JWH Decorators to develop suitable colour schemes for the project. Remaining faithful to the building’s prominent 1920s architectural features was a vital consideration so colour experts from Johnstone’s produced realistic photo mock ups to showcase how the schemes would look in situ.
In addition to utilising Johnstone’s recommended colour schemes, the four-man team from JWH Decorators took full advantage of the brand’s comprehensive product range. The popular Covaplus Vinyl Matt was used on the ceilings, Acrylic Durable Matt on the walls and the market-leading Aqua Gloss was used on the trim areas. Johnstone’s Smooth Masonry paint was also used to protect the exterior of the building against the elements.
Owner of JWH Decorators, Wayne Hargreaves, lives locally to the Racecourse so was determined to provide it with a finish to be proud of – something he insists that Johnstone’s was integral in helping him and his team achieve.
He said: “This project has to rank within my top three ever. It got off to a fantastic start thanks to the outstanding service provided by Donna from the Technical Advisory Department, who took the client’s vision for this project and made it a reality.
“There was a real partnership approach to this project, with both Donna and the local Johnstone’s Decorating Centre in Middlebank becoming integral parts of the team. We placed a lot of trust in Johnstone’s and they didn’t disappoint.
“In addition to the excellent service, the products were outstanding and delivered a finish that the end client is delighted with. The combination of service and product puts Johnstone’s head and shoulders above the rest and we won’t be using anything else in the future.”
