Johnstone’s has continued to strengthen its formidable product portfolio with the launch of its new Flame Defence Systems range.
To help simplify the process and reduce the uncertainty surrounding the specification of paint for redecoration over existing paint coatings, Johnstone’s has launched two new flame retardant systems, which have been specifically formulated to inhibit and slow the surface spread of flame.
The classification of flame retardance required for commercial and residential buildings as detailed within Document B of the Building Regulations 2010, is Class 1 or Class 0 and both of Johnstone’s new systems meet the expectations detailed within these regulations.
The Johnstone’s Flame Retardant top coats feature a Durable Matt and Acrylic Eggshell. Both products are ideal for application onto new and unpainted surfaces, as well as for painting over sound existing coatings with up to 10 like-for-like paint layers, maintaining the surface at Class 1 or Class 0.
Working closely with specifiers for many years, Johnstone’s appreciates the often conflicting demands of meeting legislation without compromise to aesthetic or performance requirements. Colour choice, durability and surface finish are fundamental to the interior finish of a building which is why Johnstone’s has developed the top coats to be available in over 16,000 colours.
Also in the Flame Defence System range is the Intumescent Upgrade System, which is a four-coat system comprising of a two component Primer Base, an Intumescent Base Coat and the choice of two top coats in the form of an Acrylic Matt and an Acrylic Eggshell.
Available in a choice of 7,000 colours this system provides the capability of upgrading the worst case Class 4 surface, to the highest specification for surface spread of flame and fire propagation Class 0, providing that the existing substrate is sound for redecoration.
