JPG has been appointed to advise on sensitive regeneration proposals for the centre of Ulverston town in the north west by Robinsons Brewery.
Plans include the redevelopment of a number of disused brewery warehouse units to deliver a 20,000 sq ft supermarket with ancillary retail and office space.
The development proposes to incorporate and re-open historic public houses on the site. An underground car park providing 90 spaces and integration with the existing public realm with new walkways and adapted highways is also included.
JPG, which established in Leeds in 1988, has been brought onto the professional team by Robinsons because of its specific expertise in civil and structural planning for key regional heritage sites where sustainability is a key priority.
The brief includes traffic assessment and highways re-engineering to include two public car parks, drainage and flood risk advice, air quality assessments and structural advice for all new and existing buildings to be incorporated.
JPG is currently working with the project team through a series of public consultations to see the project through to planning approval.
Chris Harding, Director at JPG said, “The existing site has considerable heritage value and its future is of course a major concern for the local community. Robinson’s proposals seek to embrace these values with a scheme that will contribute to the vitality and viability for Ulverston town centre on the whole with a potential for 200 new jobs.
A new planning application was recently submitted.
