ADT Fire & Security is introducing its latest innovation in fire detection solutions; Generation 6 Detection Technology. Based on its established MZX Technology® platform, this new development offers unique functions and additional benefits to provide speedier installation, more efficient programming and a superb detector lifespan between service changes.
Generation 6 detectors feature a remote wireless link built into the device housing. This enables two way communication with the new 850EMT Engineering Management Tool. This function is an industry first and allows fire detection engineers and service technicians to adjust the settings and parameters of the detector using this simple hand held device, without having to manually access each detector. In applications with a large quantity of detectors or access issues, this unique function saves time and makes the installation and programming of the detectors significantly safer by allowing engineers to work at ground level.
This all new range provides superior detection performance, greater fault tolerance and improved environmental protection, enabling quicker and easier installation whilst reducing overall cost. The 850 and 830 series detectors included within the range use sophisticated digital signalling to communicate with the MZX fire control panel, providing a robust and secure fire detection network that is engineered to suit the requirements of the environment and application.
“Our latest fire detection innovation ensures that we can provide a more robust and resilient product to our customers, with improved operational reliability for early detection of all fire types coupled to false and unwanted alarm immunity” comments Peter Lackey, Fire Product Marketing Manager at ADT. “The inclusion of wireless communication between detector and programmer is a unique innovation within the fire detection industry, which will deliver immediate benefits to our customers.”
One other main benefit is the inclusion of advanced design, manufacture and use of new algorithms to the range, offering a lifespan of 10 years for Carbon Monoxide (CO) detectors between service changes and an amazing 20 years for smoke detectors - twice the industry average at half the cost.
In addition to the new engineering management tool, the Generation 6 range offers additional freedom in the aesthetic design of the system. The Generation 6 housing and base is now available in a range of 10 colours for use across a wide range of environments including hotel, retail and leisure. The detectors can also be customised to specific colour pantones to match the décor and branding of any organisation.
Supplementary to the benefits of Generation 6 Detection technology, ADT now offers a patented ceiling tile adaptor (CTA) specifically for installation in suspended and floating ceilings. The adaptor enables the detector to be tested and commissioned before the ceiling is fitted, ensuring improved installation quality, and time reduction in the construction programme’s critical path. This reduces installation costs as no time is wasted trying to locate cables and back boxes. It also assists health and safety cost management with less time working at height, and reduces potential wastage and delay caused by broken tiles.
“The development of our Generation 6 range heralds an exciting time at ADT and demonstrates our continued commitment to providing the latest technological benefits as standard and leading innovation within the industry,” adds Lackey.
