The Leadbitter Group has begun construction of a new retail and leisure development in the centre of Trowbridge in Wiltshire, on behalf of Legal & General Property.
St Stephen’s Place Leisure Park will include an Odeon multiplex cinema and an 80-bed Premier Inn hotel, as well as a range of restaurants, cafes and bars, 111 car parking spaces and new landscaped areas of riverside open space.
Construction will create more than 100 jobs for local tradespeople and, once complete, will create a further 200 jobs for Trowbridge.

Construction work is well underway on-site, with over half of the piling for the cinema done and similar work for the hotel and restaurant set to begin once the cinema piling is completed.

The St Stephen’s Place site had been vacant since a Tesco supermarket was demolished in the mid-1990s. A number of development schemes had been proposed, but none came to fruition until after its purchase by Legal & General UK Property Trust in 2010.
