Press visitors to the Media Centre at the Volvo Ocean Race benefit from continuous updates via RSS feed relayed to an LED display system supplied by Messagemaker Displays.
The display, which involves complex routings and turns, runs around most of the perimeter of the print centre, making it attention grabbing and a truly unique display.
The Volvo Ocean Race (formerly the Whitbread Round the World Race) is a circumnagivational race, held every three years. Commencing this autumn at Alicante in Spain, the latest race will conclude in Gothenburg in Sweden during early 2015.
During the race, teams will cover over 70,000 km (40, 0000 nautical miles) of the world’s seas and is the ultimate test of sailing skills and physical endurance.
Messagemaker supplied an LED solution to exacting bespoke requirements via Electrosonic, a global audio-visual company with extensive experience in designing and supplying complex systems incorporating state-of-the-art technology for the professional AV market.
Covering a length of over 40 metres the ‘ticker’ display runs around the walls of the media centre. A challenging routing meant taking into account a series of corners and even a break across a doorway. The results are impressive, with a bright blue display which echoes the modernity of the centre’s design and offers clear visibility from anywhere in the room. Journalists on site benefit from an instant update on the positions of the various teams, speeding up the reporting and posting process.
