A local company is raising a glass to toast its latest successful project, which has seen it play a part in the extension of a world-renowned brewery.
Eastleigh-based Wessex Galvanizers, part of Wedge Group Galvanizing, was called upon to galvanize 100 tonnes of structural steelwork used as part of a major upgrade to Fuller’s Griffin Brewery in Chiswick, West London.
The steel has been used to extend the existing conditioning room at the brewery, which plays a key role in the fermentation process of Fuller’s award-winning range of beers and ales, such as London Pride, Honey Dew, and Chiswick Bitter. Once completed, the revamp will increase floor space in the conditioning room and also incorporate the latest technology in routing valves.
“Due to the sheer size of certain elements of steel involved in this project, we called upon the services of our sister plant Worksop Galvanizing to carry out some of the galvanizing work,” Richard Whiddett, Commercial Manager of Wessex Galvanizers, commented.
Fuller’s has been brewing beers and ales from its site in Chiswick for more than 300 years, and currently produces around 250,000 barrels a year for its network of 350-plus pubs, bars and hotels across the south of England.
Wedge Group Galvanizing is the largest hot dip galvanizing organisations in the UK with a history dating back over 150 years. With 14 plants strategically placed across the country, the firm offers a truly national galvanizing service.
