Macdonald Hotels & Resorts has appointed multi award winning interior designer Amanda Rosa to transform a former John Lewis ‘Caleys’ department store in the heart of Windsor to its newest addition, Macdonald Windsor Hotel.
Due to open this autumn, the £10million development will sit behind an attractive Georgian façade exuding all the quality and finish of a five star boutique property and encompassing the ‘stylised’ rich and plush decor Amanda is renowned for.
With previous projects including the Aviator Hotel in Farnborough and Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire, Amanda Rosa explains the design ethos behind Macdonald Windsor Hotel; “Windsor is such a magnificent setting, and as such I have tried to capture the very best of the quintessentially English surroundings. We aim to create what I would describe as a stylish retreat, with a timeless feel – charming, elegant interiors with a contemporary edge. By using a subtle palette of colours for calmness and a fusion of textures, we will create a naturally comfortable, rich space for the perfect escape.”
Macdonald Windsor Hotel will feature 120 contemporary bedrooms, many of which will have views of the surrounding area including Windsor Castle and the Guildhall. In addition to a large cocktail bar and open plan sitting/eating area with mood lighting for guests to meet, mingle, drink and dine informally. There will also be seven function suites for events up to 150 ranging from conferences to private dining, plus free Wi-Fi throughout.
