Marley is launching two new large format interlocking clay roof tiles to the market, which offer the aesthetic qualities of clay, together with the time and cost saving benefits of interlocking tiles.
The new tiles, Maxima and Melodie are available in Natural Red, and can both be used at low minimum pitches for greater design flexibility.
Maxima is an interlocking double roman clay tile, with an open gauge so that it can be easily fixed on the roof and doesn’t require any complicated fittings. The tile gives a high coverage rate of 10.1 tiles per m2, saving installation time and cost.
Sarah Jackson, marketing product manager from Marley, comments: "The Maxima has an open gauge so that it can be fitted easily and quickly and can be used down to roof pitches of 17.5 degrees. There are very few clay double roman interlocking tiles on the market so the launch of our Maxima tile will give contractors and merchants another option, particularly in areas like the South West where planners frequently specify double roman roof tiles.”
The Melodie is an interlocking clay pantile which has a traditional appearance, but has one of the lowest minimum pitches in the roofing industry at 12.5 degrees. The robust design of the interlock allows the roof tile to go down to a very low pitch, but the tile also has a flexible gauge so that it can be fixed easily. This market leading low pitch clay pantile gives designers and contractors greater flexibility and is ideal for refurbishments or new builds. The natural red Melodie has a covering capacity of 13.8 tiles per m2 at the maximum gauge and gives a traditional, classic pantile appearance.
Sarah Jackson explains: “We designed the Melodie clay tile with a flexible gauge which makes it easy for contractors to install and a very affordable option. The Melodie is a single pantile profile shape which is prevalent in East Anglia, Yorkshire and the North East. The fact it can be used on pitches as low as 12.5 degrees means specifiers and designers can achieve a clay finish where they may not have been able to before."
Both tiles have been extensively tested for wind driven rain and can be installed in accordance with BS 5534 and BS 8000-6-2013 for workmanship on building sites.
The new interlocking clay tile range can also be used with Marley's Universal accessories, that are not only completely dry fix but can be used to provide ventilation to meet the Building Regulations, British Standards and comply with the latest NHBC guidelines.
