The range of services supplied by the MIB Group was well demonstrated at the nine-storey Pheonix House Residential Housing scheme in Southall, London.
Main contractor Vascroft awarded the Infill, Structure and Facades work to MIB which has offices in Cardiff and Cheshire from where they are able to manage their projects throughout the UK.
In the first phase, MIB MetSIP panels were used as infill to the concrete superstructure over 7 storeys. The work was carried out in a fraction of the time it would have taken with traditional methods.
The next phase involved constructing a 2 storey residential block on the top of the first phase using the MIB Framespace Structure system which combines the MetSIP panel with Light Gauge Steel internal load bearing walls.
The product is manufactured at MIB’s own 28,000 sq.ft. facility in South Wales which gave Operations Manager, Dean Bennett, total control over quality and installation. The work was carried out in a fraction of the time it would have taken using traditional methods and with off-site production there was minimal waste and the site was a cleaner and safer one in which to work.
Once the panels were installed, MIB Facades were able to apply the brick slip cladding and Commercial Director Liam Daley said: “The client really appreciated having one company supply these three services ensuring a smooth operation throughout.”
Housing is just one aspect of MIB’s work. Other on-going projects include the Hotels, Student Accommodation and Healthcare sectors.
