The mineral wool insulation manufacturers association (MIMA) believes that the Government’s recently announced home insulation trial is a positive step towards changing the perception of home insulation.
The trials are designed to make it easier for the public to insulate their homes and reduce energy bills, but a key issue for the government is to remove the perceived barriers to insulating homes.
John Sinfield, MIMA Chairman said: “As an association we are pleased to see the government identify and tackle the issues surrounding the installation of insulation well ahead of the Green Deal being implemented. Despite being one of the most effective ways to reduce energy bills, there is still concern over ensuring these messages are conveyed to the public.
“Cost and disruption continue to be two of the most prohibitive reasons against insulating homes, but this trial – supported by large consumer outlets – will hopefully dispel any myths for the consumer and shine the spotlight back on the positives of loft and cavity wall insulation.”
Mr Sinfield added: “The success of the trials will also be evaluated, which can only place insulation in better stead for the UK-wide roll out of the Green Deal next year.”
