BM TRADA Group, the UK-based international testing, inspection, certification and compliance body has introduced a new name and visual identity.
The move, aimed at improving clarity of communications and emphasising the group’s strengths, will see all BM TRADA Group companies (with the exception of FIRA International Ltd) trading under the same name – BM TRADA.
Historically, the group has delivered its services through a number of individual companies including BM TRADA Certification Ltd, TRADA Technology Ltd, Chiltern International Fire Ltd (including Chiltern Dynamics) and a network of international offices. These will all now adopt the new name and visual identity.
By creating a strong single identity, BM TRADA aims to highlight the broad range of services it offers, increasing the understanding of all across its wide customer base. A new strapline ‘… when experience matters’ emphasises how the group’s depth of experience adds value to all of its services, enabling it to make sound judgements when it comes to developing new services and finding solutions for clients developing new products or new uses for existing ones.
BM TRADA is also introducing two new and distinct certification marks for clients of its certification services. The standard certification mark – a ‘C’ shaped mark known as the Cert Mark – will be used for most types of certification (including all management systems, chain of custody, BRC, competent persons and Factory Production Control (FPC) schemes). The Q-Mark is a quality mark for products, covering product certification and personnel certification schemes.
The move will result in changes to all of the group’s communications, including signage, documentation and websites, but says David Webb, BM TRADA Chief Executive, the quality and integrity of its services will remain the same: “With origins dating back to 1934, BM TRADA has a deep history and services which are highly valued by its customers.
"It offers independent certification, testing, inspection, training and technical services around the world.
“A recent review of our businesses and customers revealed that the individual identities sometimes make communications confusing, and that, in an already complex business area, clarity and simplicity in communications is rare, but valued. It also revealed that a single identity and combined offer would help us strengthen our appeal.
“With this in mind, we have brought the companies together under the name BM TRADA and taken the opportunity to create a fresh new visual identity.
“We have modernised our image and combined our strengths. However, our values, our people and the integrity of our services remain the same. We will continue to use industry-leading experts in their chosen fields to develop and deliver services – an ethos that has been at the heart of our approach since we began.”
While many of the changes will happen quickly, BM TRADA is keen to reassure customers that the validity of all documents previously issued by the individual companies, including certificates, test reports and product assessments will be unaffected. An open letter to this effect is available to download in pdf form from the BM TRADA website.
