Knauf Insulation’s Earthwool Masonry Party Wall Slab is approved for use in E-WM-22.
Providing a useful resource for housebuilders, this fully approved party wall construction simplifies the building process and eliminates the need for costly pre-completion acoustic tests.
Issued by Robust Details Limited (RDL), a UKAS accredited product certification body, a Robust Detail is an independently assessed and approved separating wall or floor specification that is pre-tested to perform betterthan required building standards.
In order to be approved, each Robust Detail must be capable of consistently exceeding the performance standards given in Approved Document E of the Building Regulations for England and Wales, ensuring housebuilders can rely on the quality of the design.
E-WM-22 is constructed using lightweight aggregate blocks and a 100mm cavity, which is fully filled with the Knauf Insulation mineral wool slabs. No parge coat is required, offering further cost savings to the housebuidler. Furthermore, projects that use E-WM-22 score an additional three points under the Health and Wellbeing category of the Code for Sustainable Homes.
Earthwool Masonry Party Wall Slabs have been specifically designed as a thermal and acoustic solution for use in masonry cavity party walls between adjoining apartments, semi-detached and terraced houses. Composed of non-combustible glass mineral wool, they are manufactured in accordance with BSI Quality Assurance Standard BS EN ISO 9001: 2000, and Product Standard EN 13162.
In addition, as part of Knauf Insulation’s Earthwool range of products, the slabs benefit from the revolutionary formaldehyde-free ECOSE Technology. Based on rapidly renewable materials instead of petro-based chemicals, ECOSE Technology is free from phenols, acrylics, artificial colours, bleach or dyes. It is also up to 70% less energy intensive than traditional oil based binders – producing a ‘super-soft’ and easier to handle wool, with a natural brown colour.

Products from Knauf Insulation’s Supafil range are composed of loose, non-combustible glass mineral wool that is blown into existing masonry cavity walls. Only available to approved installers, they offer complete peace of mind that the system will be installed correctly and efficiently.
In addition, Supafil reduces the potential for costly on-site delays, as it has been designed for high-speed installation, and is unaffected by severe weather or cold temperatures.
