The winners of the Stadium Business Awards 2010 were announced today and Philip Johnson has been awarded the Team Player of the Year. The awards ceremony took place during the Stadium Business Summit at the Guinness Storehouse, Dublin, in front of an audience of 150 stadium industry professionals from around the world. In presenting the award, the judging panel commented that it had been awarded “…for coping with the pressures, expectations and demands of multiple stakeholders in delivering a world-class stadium…”
Philip Johnson is a Principal at Populous and has been responsible for leading the design of the London Olympic Stadium. This has involved leading a large number of architects in the Populous architectural team, as well as coordinating the work of a wide range of design consultants across the broader design team and working with an extensive range of clients, stakeholders and interested parties.
Philip Johnson said: “To work on this very special project in my own city is an enormous privilege and to be supported by a team of such creative, energetic and talented designers at Populous is incredible. The commitment to the stadium design from the wider project team has been unwavering and we are all very much looking forward to seeing the project completed next year.”

Held for the first time this year, the Stadium Business Awards in association with Guinness, were created as a platform to showcase innovation, professionalism and best practice within the stadium industry. As the first awards to recognise achievements in the stadium industry, all aspects of the international stadium and sports venue sector are covered, from individual staff to event and venue of the year. The awards are organised by Xperiology, creators of the Stadium Business Summit conference and suppliers of stadium management training, consultancy and advisory services to the sports and entertainment sector.
