Widely used in Europe underground units for waste and recycling are now becoming more popular in the UK especially with developers and housing associations who are under pressure to make the best use of all available space.
The neat compact design of the systems saves space allowing more properties per plot and the attractive above ground column allows installation on what might otherwise be unused ground for instance by the entrance door to properties.
One of the problems which has limited the installation of underground in the UK has been the availability of a collection vehicle. Contenur has recently introduced to the UK a hydraulic lift version of the underground system. The system houses upto 4 wheeled bins underground, the systems uses either electric or hydraulic power to raise the bins to ground level, where they can be emptied by a standard wheelie bin collection vehicle.
