Yorkshire business leader Paul Rose who steered Rixonway Kitchens to record growth last year was honoured at a major event for leading entrepreneurs.
Mr Rose, Chief Executive of Rixonway Kitchens, one of the leading manufacturers working in affordable and social housing, won the manufacturing category prize at the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.
Judges of the North and Midlands praised the character shown in significantly increasing sales and profits over several years.
Mr Rose was one of 12 entrepreneurs from Yorkshire who were shortlisted in the competition, alongside regional leaders in surgical instruments, marketing and car rental. The competition culminated in a black tie dinner hosted by BBC presenter Jeremy Vine at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester on Tuesday (June 28).
Stuart Watson, lead partner for the Entrepreneur of the Year programme at Ernst & Young in Yorkshire said: “At a time when entrepreneurs are really feeling the pressure of a difficult economic situation, it’s important to celebrate those who have triumphed regardless through their unique vision and determination to succeed.”
Mr Rose was recognised for the stellar growth rates achieved at Rixonway. Under his leadership the company has been transformed from a small regional kitchen manufacturer into one of the market leaders.
Mr Rose led a £27 million management buyout of Rixonway in 2006 and the firm has grown revenue from £19 million to £29 million over the last three years.
Mr Rose said: “Good customer service has been key to the expansion. By constantly reviewing our service and product offering we are able to remain ahead of our competitors. The ability to react quickly to market changes also sets us apart.”
The success comes on the back of appearances in both the Sunday Times Profit Track 100 and Buyout Track 100 where Rixonway was listed 36th and 17th respectively. Both tables rank Britain’s 100 private companies with the fastest-growing profits.
