The seaside town of Exmouth in Devon has undergone a transformation in recent years, part of a plan to bring the town up to date and to improve facilities for both residents and tourists.
Part of this plan includes the development of the Queens Drive area which runs parallel to the seafront.
Devon County Council asked Ronacrete Approved Contractors Route One Highways to resurface the pedestrian area using RonaDeck Resin Bound Surfacing.
Two contrasting aggregate blends were used, Harvest Crunch and Terracotta, the latter formed a band along the pedestrian area, ending in a spiral pattern.
Route One mixed the two-part resin with a drill and paddle and then mixed the resin with the aggregate blend in a forced action mixer, prior to the surfacing being applied by screed sledge to the macadam base.
The use of a screed sledge ensured an even spread of the aggregate mix and speeded the application of the surfacing which covered around 1000 square metres. The surfacing was ready for foot traffic after just four hours.
RonaDeck Resin Bound Surfacing is a UV stable resin bound aggregate surfacing; its functional properties and decorative appearance make it an attractive choice for a wide range of paving applications.
