Rostek-UK has been contracted to provide a façade access solution for an impressive new £50m development at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen.
The contract, valued at £85k, was awarded to Rostek-UK by Miller Construction, the main contractor delivering the next phase of the University’s master plan at its Garthdee Campus.
Rostek-UK provided an alternative proposal to the initial brief so as to negate the need to penetrate the roof, thereby reducing the risks of future leaks in the roof.
To enable access to the main façades of the modern wave-like building, its solution was to design and manufacture a building maintenance unit (BMU), which will sit on a free laid track.
Work began on the new campus in May this year with the building expected to be completed in March 2013.
Sales director of Rostek-UK, John Hepworth, is pleased the company has been given the opportunity to work on the project.
“This is an extremely prestigious scheme and we are pleased we were able to provide an alternative solution in order to protect the fabric of the roof and building,” he said.
“It is great to be given the opportunity to demonstrate our skills and expertise and continue to build a good reputation within the education sector.”
