Saint-Gobain offers a day in the life experience

Visitors will be invited to experience a ‘day in the life’ of Saint-Gobain products, systems and technologies at Ecobuild 2013 on stand N310.

The 225m² stand is designed to show how products and systems from the company’s UK businesses can be found across a wide range of construction types and sectors in everyday life.

Systems displayed will include internal, separating and external wall systems for new build and refurbishment scenarios, room-in-the-roof and ceiling solutions, as well as glazing and pipe products for both residential and commercial applications.  Saint-Gobain will demonstrate how technologies from its UK businesses can be used alongside each other to create more energy efficient buildings.

Products from British Gypsum, Saint-Gobain Isover, Saint-Gobain Weber, Glassolutions, Saint-Gobain Glass, Saint-Gobain PAM, Ecophon, Saint-Gobain Solar, Saint-Gobain Abrasives and Pasquill will be showcased on the stand, which will feature a number of zones.

New Build - The deadline for achieving zero carbon is fast approaching, with new dwellings and non-domestic properties required to meet this standard by 2016 and 2019 respectively.  Ensuring all new buildings are as efficient as possible is therefore essential if the industry is to ensure a more sustainable future and achieve government targets.

This zone will showcase a range of market-leading new build solutions including external masonry, partition wall and roof constructions created using products and systems designed to meet legislative requirements both today and in the future.

Renovation - The UK’s 26 million homes and 1.8 million non-domestic buildings account for around 43 percent of the country’s carbon emissions.  The majority of these properties will still be standing in 2050, making their refurbishment one of the biggest challenges facing the industry.

Saint-Gobain supports the Green Deal and is a champion of the fabric first approach to refurbishment, offering the products and systems needed to achieve energy efficient retrofit on an unprecedented scale.  Featuring internal wall, external wall, roof and flooring solutions, this area will demonstrate how solutions from Saint-Gobain’s UK businesses can make buildings more energy efficient while providing greater comfort and quality of life.

Education - In the UK, the average person spends 15 years of their life in education, so it is vital that educational buildings inspire and support the vision of excellence in learning.  A healthy indoor climate, carefully planned ergonomics and the best possible acoustic conditions are all key elements.

Saint-Gobain’s stand at Ecobuild will show how the challenge of creating energy efficient, cost-effective learning environments can be met using products and systems that not only meet the most demanding sustainability standards, but are also faster to build, reduce whole life maintenance costs and offer inspirational design.

Commercial - Saint-Gobain’s UK businesses are helping to make the nation’s retail centres, offices, airports and railway stations more sustainable and more secure environments.  From the foundations right up to the roof, the company can provide a wide range of products and systems for commercial applications.

The commercial zone will depict a typical office scenario to illustrate how the highest standards of energy efficiency can be met in an environment that is both healthy and comfortable for workers and visitors.

Richard Halderthay, director of communications for Saint-Gobain (UK, Ireland & South Africa), comments: “Look around as you go about your daily life and you will find Saint-Gobain products everywhere from homes, schools and offices to leisure facilities, hospitals and airports.

“We are at the forefront of developing sustainable construction products and technologies that deliver market-leading environmental performance for the creation of sustainable built environments and our stand at this year’s Ecobuild will show how our solutions can help make buildings more energy efficient and protect our planet for generations to come.”
