The new PLUS track system from Pressalit Care sets new standards in accessible, multi-user bathroom design.
Pressalit Care’s unique vertical and horizontal track system offers easy operation, simple cleaning and a high degree of flexibility that benefits not only users and their carers, but makes financial sense too.
With soft, rounded edges and a choice of new, bold colours, the ergonomically designed Pressalit Care PLUS system features a wall-mounted track which allows easy movement of individual bathroom elements such as wash basin and shower seat.
The horizontal track makes it possible to move these elements along the wall, making space for wheelchair access for example, while the vertical track enables simple height adjustment with an easy to use lever lock that secures firmly in place.
Design and function go hand in hand in the PLUS system. Several elements can be fitted safely onto the track such as basin, shower seat, toilet and arm supports. Combined with other elements in the system, including grab rails, toilet seats, back rests, curtain rails and folding seats, the result is a comfortable, usable and attractive bathroom that offers long term value.
Each element has been designed with user comfort in mind. The shallow ergonomic form of the wash basin gives seated users the leg-room they need, while the shaped support arms provide a sense of security for seated users, also facilitating the task of transferring to and from wheelchairs. The versatility of the PLUS system means that support arms can be folded up against the wall when not in use.
Andrew Lowndes, UK and Ireland sales manager for Pressalit Care said: “In multi-user bathrooms and washrooms in establishments such as residential schools, care homes, nursing homes and hospitals, where no two residents or patients have the same physical needs, the ability to easily adjust the positioning of the bathroom elements brings a high degree of flexibility and independence for the individual user.”
With hygiene all important, the PLUS system has been designed to facilitate the highest levels of cleanliness. Smooth, round edges with the minimum of slits and grooves makes for efficient cleaning.
Strong colours such as Lime Green, Orange and Purple, sit alongside others in the range like white, anthracite, red and dark blue – enabling an individual touch to be brought to the bathroom’s design, fitting in with existing schemes or making a bright and bold statement in a facility for younger children or teenagers. Stronger colours in bathrooms provide an important and invaluable help with daily routines, especially for many older or visually impaired users.
Offering flexible solutions that maximise all available space even in the smallest of areas, the PLUS system meets the requirements of BS8300:2009.
“The flexibility of the PLUS system offers both short and long term benefits,” continues Andrew. “In the short term, components can be mix and matched between bathrooms, meaning that not every bathroom needs to be fully fitted out with each element. In the long term, the ability to adjust the bathroom for the needs of individual users saves on conversion costs when requirements change.
“It’s not just an economic advantage though,” concludes Andrew. “The flexibility of the system improves the quality of life for users who are able to enjoy greater independence in the bathroom environment, which has a positive knock-on effect for the carers’ well-being and job satisfaction.”
The PLUS system is the result of over 35 years’ experience that Pressalit Care has gained as a leader in the design and manufacture of bathroom solutions throughout Europe for people with disabilities.
