One of the most popular venues during the London Olympics, the 6000 seat velodrome has reopened in Stratford with its refurbished reception areas benefiting from a resilent, durable, and high performance flooring system from global building products manufacturer Sika.
The velodrome forms part of the new Lee Valley Velopark and also includes BMX, mountain biking and road cycling facilities. With 600,000 people expected each year, the Olympic Legacy Committee were looking for a durable, easy to clean and non-slip floor which also offered impressive aesthetic qualities. The specification comprised of a Sikafloor 264 broadcast with anti-slip quartz aggregate. A two part, coloured, epoxy resin, Sika 264 provides impressive protection against mechanical stress, abrasion, chemicals and water. This was then topped off with a layer of Sikafloor 305W, a matt finish seal coat which offers excellent resistance to the effects of UV light.
