STRIDE TREGLOWN WINS DOCKS HQ PROJECT

Ecclesiastical Insurance has appointed Stride Treglown to work on the development of its new head office. The project is for a 100,000 sq.ft BREEAM ‘Excellent’ HQ office building on a dockside site, together with a c.150 space multi level car park.

Joining them on the design team is Arup, engineering consultants, CSJ on planning and Sweett Group quantity surveyors.

Stride Treglown was chosen by Ecclesiastical following a detailed procurement process where it competed with 13 other firms. Stride Treglown stood out due to its past experience with similar projects, approach to the proposed design brief, a strong focus on sustainability and an overall good fit with Ecclesiastical’s own project team. Some of its previous projects include designs for the development of residential properties in Merchants Quay in Gloucester Docks and Sainsbury’s at Gloucester Quays.

Steve Wood, Managing Director for Ecclesiastical’s UK business, said: “Our new head office project is a hugely important one for our business and for the City of Gloucester. The project reflects our ongoing commitment to the City and will be a real boost for the local economy.

“The appointment of the external design team is a significant milestone for us. We have taken great care to ensure the best professionals are selected for the next crucial stages of our relocation project.

“We’re confident that our consultants will provide Ecclesiastical with a design that meets all our requirements, and which will be sympathetic to the existing environment.

“The next few months will see our in-house team working very closely with the external team to develop design concepts. We are very excited about reaching this stage and will continue to share our plans with the local community as we progress.”

John Wright, Director at Stride Treglown, said: “We are delighted to have been appointed by Ecclesiastical Insurance to work with them on their new headquarters. We have worked on a number of high profile HQ office buildings including St.James’s Place in Cirencester, Burges Salmon and Hargreaves Lansdown in Bristol and South Gloucestershire Council in Yate, many of which we worked on with the same design team. We hope to use this experience to create an exciting and sustainable office for Ecclesiastical Insurance.”

Initial design concepts for Ecclesiastical’s new building are now expected in April/May 2012. The project is due to be completed by late 2015.
