A prestigious Grade II listed office building in London has recently undergone a full makeover with bespoke high specification washroom areas installed by leading washroom manufacturer, Washroom Washroom.
The building, located in the heart of the City of London, just minutes away from the Bank of England, provides contemporary office accommodation over five floors. The refurbishment, which took several months, was the vision of SPPARC with Primus Build acting as the main contractor, was all the more challenging due to the width of the building at just over 23 metres and its close proximity to the buildings on either side.
Space was at a premium within the building and, as it was important the design theme ran throughout, unisex washrooms with each cubicle a self-contained unit including vanity unit and hand drying facilities, provided the ideal solution to maximise space without compromising on design.
The high specification washrooms were meticulously designed and fitted out with full height oak doors, providing ultimate privacy for end users. For the vanities, bespoke Corian basins, designed with bespoke curved pedestal stand and fitted with integrated taps, were installed. The washroom design was completed with full glass duct panelling, which also provides a practical maintenance solution, and reflects the design of the reception and other common areas of the building.
Washroom’s joinery division, Cre8 Joinery Solutions, also worked on the reception area of the building, using glass wall panelling throughout to provide a sense of cohesion with other areas of the building and creating a striking first impression on visitors to the building.
Waldo Brandt, Associate Design Director, SPPARC said: “SPPARC is delighted with the realisation of the design into the finished product , particularly the cohesion created between the washrooms and other common areas of the building including the main reception which fuses the dramatic height inherent of the listed building with a contemporary aesthetic. Working with Washroom enabled us to create a truly bespoke and special series of spaces.”
Trevor Bowers, Managing Director at Washroom Washroom commented: “This was certainly a challenging project in terms of the site conditions and space available but as Washroom has demonstrated time and again, we don’t shy away from a challenge! It was refreshing to be able to give a listed building like this a really contemporary makeover.”
