TRADA Technology Ltd has expanded its industry-leading portfolio of timber frame training courses with a new course in cross laminated timber.
The new uses for cross-laminated timber are receiving positive comment from many building critics. It brings with it many advantages including a visually appealing structure, built in fire resistance and fantastic green credentials.
The growth of this method of construction has led to the development of this new course from TRADA Technology.
Delivered by members of the TRADA Technology frameCHECK team, who regularly attend sites to provide best practice advice, or assist in solving problems, the course explores how cross-lam can be used, its benefits and pitfalls. The dates for the course are 5 June and 23 October at TRADA Technology’s High Wycombe headquarters.
The new course is written to complement TRADA Technology’s ‘Innovative Timber Construction’ book.
This recent TRADA publication has been written to expand on information provided on some alternative forms of timber construction mentioned in Timber Frame Construction 5th Edition. Four of the most common types of alternative timber walls and roofs are explored, including cross-laminated timber.
The course is designed to provide a broad overview of the subject and the specifics of building with cross laminated timber. Course content includes: manufacture, pre-processing off site, design principles and detailing, hybrid forms, shrinkage, fire and disproportionate collapse.
