Raising the bar on composite windows

Uniform Architectural, one of the leaders in composite windows and curtain walling, has just published a new brochure for its uni_one composite windows.

The combination of style with the highest quality engineering makes the uni_one composite window a popular and versatile choice for both domestic and commercial projects – creating new standards of excellence.

The double or triple glazed uni_one windows are notable for their high thermal and acoustic efficiency, offering users both energy savings and noise protection. They effortlessly integrate into a building with numerous customisation options available, enabling users to achieve continuity with any architectural character, style or period.

Uniform Architectural uni_one windows can achieve all three standards of Climate House ‘A’ and ‘B’ low energy categories and Climate House ‘Gold’ ultra low energy, and even meet the Passiv Haus standard of below 0.8 W/m2K where required.

The natural aesthetic of the uni_one range results from the use of wood veneers for the interior finish. Including oak and pine, these elegant veneers allow specifiers and users to match the windows to the atmosphere of the interior environment. In fact, the entire window can be customised to suit a user’s needs, with options for the external aluminium ranging from coloured polyester powder coating in a variety of textures to real burnished bronze and weathered copper finishes. Uniform Architectural also offers handles and catches of brass, chrome and anodised aluminium, which can be matched to the finish of the corner joint inlay option, for a sleek, unified look.

Scot’s pine timber is used as the core of the uni_one for its outstanding thermal and acoustic performance. This combined with hardwearing and durable aluminium externally, gives users the natural benefits of wood as an insulator as well as keeping maintenance of the exterior to a minimum. The stability and distortion resistance of the windows are ensured by the latest method of wood-glass structural bonding. Unlike traditional windows, the glass is fixed to the wood using structural silicone from Dow Corning, which forms a definitive and permanent bond between the two materials, distributing the load equally and therefore avoiding stress points on the pane, resulting in less breakages.

Rigorous testing has also seen the uni_one windows achieve the highest classifications for air permeability at class 4 and wind resistance at class 5C.

The highest classification was exceeded for water tightness with uni_one achieving class E 1050 and scoring ‘U’ values of 0.79 W/m2K amd 1.2 W/m2K for thermal transmittance when using high-performance glass. When requested the glass panes can be laminated and built with an insertion of a transparent, acoustic, PVB interlayer of soundproofing material that enhances noise insulation to reach outstanding levels of sound attenuation.

Uniform is a global leader in the innovative design and manufacture of high performance composite window systems. Combining the elegance and sophistication of Italian design with the use of sustainable natural materials, Uniform Architectural supplies a product range which answers to both aesthetic and environmental needs.

Using timber from ethically managed sources and recyclable aluminium, uni_one is a long-lasting, contemporary product with high thermo-acoustic values which helps to achieve higher BREEAM and CfSH standards.
