DECC to launch RHI Roadshow at Ecobuild

With the hotly anticipated domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) due to be launched this spring, the Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC) is embarking on a nationwide roadshow of events to educate consumers and installers about the scheme.

The biggest show on the Renewable Heat Incentive Roadshow will be at Ecobuild, the world's leading event for sustainable design, construction, energy and the built environment (March 4-6, ExCeL London).

Ecobuild will host a dedicated Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) zone where DECC will be showcasing the whole house offer available under the RHI & Green Deal. With new tariffs and technologies expected for the non-domestic RHI, this zone will also cover the commercial opportunities on offer.

For the first time, with the non-domestic and the domestic RHI working in parallel, every building in Great Britain will be able to take advantage of the RHI. Applying to renewable technologies such as solar thermal panels, heat pumps, and biomass boilers, the RHI is expected to make a significant contribution towards the government’s 2020 ambition of having 12 per cent of heating coming from renewable sources.

To get ahead of the game and better understand how to benefit from the incentive, visitors to Ecobuild can speak directly to DECC representatives about all aspects of the schemes. Visitors to the RHI Zone will also have access to the very latest information via DECC presentations.

Sessions on the wider Ecobuild programme are also set to explore the Renewable Heat Incentive, with DECC’s Head of RHI Household Support, Patrick Allcorn taking part in a panel on the incentives, paybacks and regulatory drivers effecting the renewables market.  After the launch, Ashley Malster, Head of Continuous Improvement for the Domestic RHI, Ofgem, will take part in a panel on Thursday exploring how best to benefit from the domestic scheme.
