Faber Blinds, creating Solar Shading solutions conforming to the newly revised EN13120 standard for Child Safety.

With more than a century of experience and product innovation behind it, Faber Blinds is rightly recognised as a global market leader.

From research and design, through manufacturing and installation, Faber is internationally renowned for the quality of its internal and external Solar Shading solutions for the project and commercial market.

Child safety is a key aspect when designing the complete range of Faber’s blinds. Faber Blinds, which is now part of the Hunter Douglas group, is one of the few commercial blind companies that conform to EN13120, which means the brand’s child safety blind solutions create an attractive environment that is safe for the people who use it.

If you have premises or are planning a project where children under the age of 42 months are present or are likely to have access you must install blinds which are compliant with the child safety requirements of EN 13120. Although the lawful requirements may be implemented at a later date, we all have a moral obligation to sell, produce and install our blinds in the safest way possible. For that reason, it is Faber Blinds Limited policy to comply with the new regulations from March 2014. This applies to all public buildings  and the publicly accessible areas of commercial buildings.

Faber Blinds is a member of the British Blind and Shutter Association (BBSA) and fully support the Make It Safe campaign which is endorsed by and the Child Accident Prevent Trust (CAPT) and referenced by many other organisations.

Child safety has become increasingly important and Faber Blinds issue simple and clear guidance on use of all its systems as young children can be strangled by loops in pull cords, chains, tapes and cords that operate the product.

To reduce this risk significantly, Faber Blinds also works closely with the architectural community and advises specifiers, customers and other manufacturer’s to ensure that the anti-ligature systems it provides form part of a complete safety solution.

The company’s professional and fully trained staff ensures installation is completed properly to provide a safe and secure solution. Often the key to a successful system is the simplicity of its design and Faber Blinds’ solutions incorporate components and mechanisms that improve safety for end users and yet are easy to install and operate.

Faber Blinds aims to be the partner of choice when considering blinds and solar shading solutions for projects of any size and has developed a standard range of anti-ligature systems offering market-leading performance levels whilst also catering for projects that require bespoke solutions.

It is envisaged that the recent revisions to the EN13120 standard are not widely understood and Faber blinds are committed to offer support to project design and leading their customers to find the best possible safe solutions.
