Specifiers today are increasingly looking for hard-wearing durable products that meet the demands of their local environment. None more so than the skin of a building. Harsh elements from the outside, vapours from the inside and the occasional football kicked from “future” 6 year old international soccer star can take its toll. It’s a challenge to balance aesthetics with durability. Prelaq Nova PLX is the solution to this objective, a standing seam material that looks good, is hard-wearing and comes with a minimum material guarantee of 25 years.
Prelaq Nova PLX is manufactured in Sweden by SSAB Swedish Steel, one of Europe’s largest and cleanest steel producers. This material has been optimised for use in extreme Nordic weather conditions. Places where the winters are cold (-35) and the summers are hot. In one guise or another, PLX has been used for generations across Sweden, to roof houses and give protection from the elements.
At the heart of the material is a 0.6mm steel substrate that has been annealed for about a week. This long process gives the end material a unique property; a strength and formability similar to Zinc or Copper.
The marine grade galvanisation and the Greencoat™ paint finish made from rapeseed oil gives the metal its extreme protection and ensures any water run-off is potable.
Prelaq Nova PLX is distributed by Newell Roofing Products through a network of approved and skilled metal roofers and installers. There is a wide range of colours available and the material can be formed in a variety of panel sizes including reveal (cassette) panels.
