30th October 2013 – St Philips Church of England Primary School is housed in a beautiful Victorian building in Southport. The school works hard to build close ties to the community, and the students are frequently involved in projects that help make a difference to their neighbourhood.
At the heart of these efforts lies the assembly hall which serves as an important resource to the school. A wide range of activities takes place here from sports and celebrations, to other extracurricular and creative pursuits. Over time, the maple floor has had to cope with rigorous demands, having last been refurbished 30 years ago. For this reason, Traditional Flooring UK Ltd was asked to give the floor a much needed update.
Alan Ray, Managing Director of Traditional Flooring UK Ltd explained, ‘We undertook this project to provide a safe and friendly environment where the children could grow and enjoy learning in. The flooring was genuine parquet wood block and it needed to be completely uplifted and reset. This accounted for the 10 day turnaround. We began by carrying out full sanding using all grades to remove the deep scowl and score marks that were left by a previous sanding process that was not professionally done.’
