Komfort is delighted to announce that it has become the first UK interior partitioning systems manufacturer to hold a SKA Rating Product Compliance Label for its Polar Glazed and Polar Solid Partitioning System with Deflection Head, demonstrating Komfort’s commitment to leading sustainable design in commercial, education and health environments.
The SKA Rating Product Compliance Label scheme, run by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), enables architects and designers, assessors and specifiers to identify and specify manufacturers’ pre-accredited materials and products with good environmental performances that meet individual SKA Rating criteria.
Polar Deflection Head Systems are compliant with M08 and/or M09 re-locatability criteria, D20 for its Timber components, D22 and M04 for the insulation Cladding Matt.
Last year, Komfort became one of the first manufacturers with a certified V.1.2 SKA Rating Assessor for Offices amongst its staff after Product Designer and Environmental Architect, Giuseppa Fiorenza passed the qualification exam, highlighting Komfort’s intention to work in parallel with the Rating System evolution.
As an accredited SKA Assessor for Offices, Giuseppa assists Komfort’s clients to create more sustainable spaces. During the design process she can identify ways to reduce a project’s environmental impact by, for example, advising on Komfort standard products and designing bespoke systems with a low environmental impact and limit landfill waste during manufacture and installation. Once a project has been delivered she can assess whether the environmental goals specified have been achieved and review how well it is performing under occupancy.
SKA Assessors award projects a bronze, silver or gold rating, as well as a percentage score, and are accredited to provide official certification that clients can feed into their environmental policies and use to demonstrate their green credentials to customers.
As the industry moves further towards a more environmentally friendly outlook, it is increasingly important that architects, specifiers and contractors have the choice of SKA approved products for their projects, whilst clients also benefit from the cost savings that come with a more efficient workspace.
