A Grade II listed building situated in the heart of the Cotswolds has been restored to its former glory, enhanced through the introduction of modern technologies. The manor house has recently benefited from the replacement of the heating system with energy efficient biomass boilers, provided by Windhager UK.
The Windhager boilers allow the property to utilise the latest in renewable technologies and yet retain its integral design and architectural quality. The boiler system is bespoke, catering specifically for a building of this size and complexity, offering a carbon neutral solution to heating and hot water.
The Windhager boilers replace an older oil fired heating system with award winning biomass technology. Three 60kW BioWIN wood pellet boilers make a 180kW highly efficient biomass system that provides all heating and hot water for the manor house, estate cottage, stables and swimming pool. Within the house, the system serves underfloor heating to the ground floor areas and bathrooms. The customer is delighted with the installation, which will considerably reduce the energy costs at the manor house and will increase the internal comfort of the building through maintaining a constant temperature.
Greenoak Building Services, specialists in mechanical and electrical building services, designed, supplied and installed all mechanical systems throughout the property. Director Ben Gibbons explains why the Windhager technology was chosen, “Having installed biomass boilers supplied by numerous manufacturers over the past ten years, we believe Windhager to have one of the best products on the market. It is clear that their commitment to product development and manufacturing quality is high on their list of priorities as a company. The staff at Windhager UK are very helpful and have extensive knowledge of the products and their application”.
Developed to maximise fuel efficiency, the Windhager wood pellet technology has been adapted especially for heating larger properties. The thermal controlled combustion technology of the BioWIN allows a metered and economical heat output, and the boilers are reliable and efficient with long intervals between cleaning. Pellets are supplied automatically through the patented suction feed system, allowing the position of the storage room to be independent of the boiler room, and ensuring that the pellet feed system is maintenance free.
Available in outputs of 35kW, 45kW, and 60kW and in cascade versions up to 240kW, the high output BioWIN is the ideal heating solution for large buildings, hotels, schools, public buildings, apartment blocks, care homes and district heating systems. The BioWIN system is both versatile and flexible, equipped for use with other systems. It is also available as a pre-packaged plant room for a total turn key solution for an energy efficient renewable heating solution.
