Preventing the slippery slope to workplace injury with Tarkett

Slips and trips account for over a third of all major work injuries and for over half of all reported injuries to members of the public.

Statistics from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) estimate the annual cost linked to loss of productivity is £512m each year.

With approximately 10,000 people suffering an injury over a 12 month period, the HSE Revitalising Health and Safety programme classifies slip or trip accidents as a "priority area”. The installation of high-performance wet and dry slip-resistant flooring could dramatically reduce these accidents.

Tarkett offers a comprehensive selection of heterogeneous safety floors which are made in the UK. Steve Urwin, Marketing Manager, Tarkett, comments: “The latest trends that we’re seeing is for design orientated safety floors which is why we launched the exciting new Safetred Ion Linen which offers sustainable slip resistance in 14 different decors.”

Tarkett’s Homogenous Safety floorings are a high performance alternative to conventional safety floors, featuring extra slip-resistance making them ideal for wet and dry application in healthcare and education, as well as leisure, retail and commercial environments.

Traditionally, safety flooring products are studded on the surface to enhance slip resistance. Tarkett’s Safe T products, such as Granit Safe T and Primo Safe T, achieve sustainable slip resistance without the studs; providing specifiers with extremely hardwearing flooring but with a smoother surface that offers ease of maintenance.

Available in a wide range of colours and matching designs, the Safe T collections can be accessorised with decorative skirting, flexible contour edge, stair nosing, and reducers for a perfect finish.

All Tarkett Safe T products are made in the EU, phthalate free and feature VOC emissions that are 100 times lower than the strictest standard in Europe. Resistant to scuffing, soiling, staining, indentation, abrasion and tearing, Tarkett flooring has the additional surface benefits of TOPCLEAN XP PUR reinforcement which means no wax and no polish for life, and easy low-cost maintenance.
