Russell Roof Tiles will be exhibiting at Ecobuild 2013

Russell Roof Tiles is for the first time attending the biggest global event for green construction – Ecobuild - at London’s Excel next week.

Leading independent UK tile manufacturer Russell Roof Tiles is unveiling new award-winning products to its growing portfolio of sustainable roofing materials at this major industry show.

Ecobuild, located at London’s Excel, has become one of the biggest events globally for the built environment. Ecobuild offers the biggest showcase of sustainable construction products anywhere with more than 1,300 exhibitors attending.

Russell Roof Tiles is teaming up with Avonside Group Services at Ecobuild. Avonside installs over 15,000 roofs per year, has an annual turnover in excess of £50 million and has 16 locations across the UK.

Russell Roof Tiles will be showing two new products Russell Envirotile and Russell Envirolay.

Russell Envirotile is a pioneering new green roofing product designed to meet the ever growing need for sustainable construction materials. This is the first fully sustainable interlocking roof tile: manufactured from recycled polypropylene (mainly from car components normally destined for landfill) it is also fully recyclable at the end of its life.

Offering unrivalled technical performance along with excellent eco-credentials, the BREEAM compliant Russell Envirotile was developed over a four year period in association with Wolverhampton University and the Green Roof Tile Company.

It provides a technically advanced alternative to traditional roofing materials. The precision design and manufacture fully utilises the latest in recycled material technology, which ensures every tile meets the highest standards. The Russell Envirotile’s light weight (just 720g) means it can be transported efficiently, thus reducing transport costs and carbon footprint as well. It is also much easier to handle, being up to 25% quicker to fit than traditional roofing products and can be cut with a handsaw rather than requiring a petrol saw again lessening its environmental impact. m/f
Russell Envirotile provides a viable sustainable option for flat roofing as it can be used on pitches as low as 12.5 degrees, and with each tile interlocking with the adjacent tiles in eight places, the roof’s integrity acts as a whole so no individual tile can easily dislodge.

Also being unveiled is Russell Envirolay the next generation of tough and environmentally friendly high performance underlay. This pitched roof underlay has been designed to give additional benefits to both Envirotile and traditional roofing products already on the market. The thermal properties of the material are utilised to reduce the conduction of the heat throughout a building.

Envirolay is an energy saving and environmental protection membrane which reduces the heat entering into the building in the summer, but also helps maintain the heat in the building in the winter. BRE certified it meets BS EN 13859-1and BS EN 12310-1 and is suitable for both warm and cold roof supported and unsupported, ventilated roof constructions. The flame retardant woven glass fibre cloth and aluminium foil weave is vapour permeable and is highly durable with a high nail tear resistance.

Russell Roof Tiles deliver a growing range of innovative leading products for social and house builders and commercial projects. Andrew Hayward Managing Director at Russell Roof Tiles comments; “It is imperative that manufacturers of traditional construction materials respond to changing market developments and look at the challenge of sustainable roofing, which is so far very limited to “green roofs” . We are delighted to be taking our new developments to Ecobuild to show them to a broader audience.

“Product innovation has always been at the centre of Russell Roof Tiles. On the back of our successful Grampian Tile we were one of the first manufacturers to launch a thin leading edge interlocking tile to the market, known as the Galloway. These latest products are the next step in enhancing our market offer. The Russell Envirotile and Envirolay are the newest additions to our developing portfolio and provides a true alternative product for those markets where sustainable products are high on the agenda.”
