Leading manufacturer, Worcester, Bosch Group has unveiled the latest gas-fired combi boiler to join its market leading range.
The Greenstar i boasts enhanced performance and A-rated annual efficiency, alongside a host of features which make it optimised for social housing schemes.
Improving on the popular features of the Greenstar i Junior which remains the UK’s best-selling condensing boiler, the new model is available in combi outputs of 25kW and 30kW, and has been developed to deliver improved water performance in small to medium sized properties with one bathroom.
To streamline servicing and maintenance, a number of changes have been made to the internal components. The fan can now be removed for cleaning purposes without the seal on the combustion chamber being disturbed and subsequently require replacement, while the expansion vessel can be removed and replaced without needing to take the boiler off the wall mounting jig to do so. Additionally, The Greenstar i is delivered with a pre-assembled wall frame with positive ‘click’ engagement and mounting hooks; and with the same familiar dimensions as the Greenstar i Junior, replacements will be simple.
All components within the boiler are serviceable from the front, and a built-in service reminder function prompts tenants to grant access to service engineers for the boiler’s annual check.
Ahead of the forthcoming ErP Requirements, Worcester’s new addition is fully compliant thanks to a range of additions led by the inclusion of a low energy circulating pump. Further energy enhancing features such as the established WB3 heat exchanger and optional ‘plug and play’ weather compensation kit offer the potential to enhance the collective SAP rating of an entire housing stock.
A Benchmark menu within the boiler control software also makes completion of the Benchmark logbook easier, which will save precious time when carrying out a number of installations within a social housing development.
The Heatronic control panel showcases an all-improved interface, with text descriptions or error codes which are communicated through the enhanced control panel, making it simple for tenants to use. Additionally, the Basic adjust mode, which offers ‘lockable’ end user controls, prevents accidental adjustments when the boiler is insitu and consequently, costly call outs are easily avoided.
In response to the challenge posed by frozen condensate in the winter months, the Greenstar i has been engineered to contain a larger condensate siphon – ensuring an uninsulated, externally routed condensate pipe connected to the new boiler will not freeze in sustained temperatures of -15°C for up to 48 hours.
The Greenstar i is also available in a range of system variants, of 9, 12, 15, 18, 21 and 24 kW, enabling installers to provide precise sizes dependent on a property’s needs. The compact design also ensures the boiler’s suitability for a variety of locations including kitchens, utility rooms, bathrooms, and airing cupboards.
Martyn Bridges, director of marketing and technical support at Worcester, Bosch Group, commented: “Feedback from installers and service engineers has been crucial in the development of our product strategy for the Greenstar i. Ultimately, we’re filling a gap in the market for a low energy using boiler, with high output and improved hot water flow rates, whilst maintaining all of the features which have made the Greenstar i Junior so popular.
“Specifiers and social landlords can feel assured that their housing stock will benefit from a reliable boiler that not only saves energy, but has also been designed with the needs of their service engineers in mind.”
