Leading building products manufacturer Steadmans netted another enviable order when it supplied materials for a new seafood restaurant in Northumberland.
The company, a principal UK supplier for steel construction in the agricultural, industrial and commercial sectors, provided 145 square metres of Meta-Slate Plus for the roof of Blyth Boathouse Restaurant. This material consists of Steadmans' Meta-Slate roofing sheets fixed to its AS35 insulated panels. The organisation supplied all flashings and purlins for the project too.
JW Colpitts, the Blyth-based steel fabricators, builders and joiners, who are also marine, general and wind farm engineers, installed the materials at the site on the banks of the River Blyth.
Graham Short, of JW Colpitts, said: "We've used Steadmans products for the last couple of years on other types of projects, such as warehousing jobs, since coming across their materials originally through a steelwork supplier. We've always found the company's output thoroughly reliable, their people extremely helpful and their customer service excellent, so we had no hesitation in going directly to them again when we needed roofing materials for Blyth Boathouse Restaurant."
The innovatively-designed new outlet, which has brought 12 jobs to the town, is part of the striking, purpose-built Blyth Boathouse. This also contains a boat building workshop and heritage centre, where tourists can discover more about the historic port. The building, which is owned by the Port of Blyth, is now the flagship business in the regeneration of Quay Road and surrounding area.
Steadmans' overall output includes steel cladding, galvanised roofing sections, composite wall and roof sheets, metal cladding, roofing products and fibre cement sheeting. All its relevant products conform to CE marking regulations and meet their requirements.
The company's purpose-built headquarters manufacturing facility near Carlisle contains an extensive range of state-of-the-art equipment and machinery. Its systems ensure it monitors stock levels effectively and manages and tracks orders, wherever they are in the production and delivery cycle, ensuring customers’ needs are met in an effective and timely way.
Steadmans uses its own vehicles - most of which feature self-unloading fork-lifts - where possible and an approved contractor, to ensure reliable deliveries, which are made weekly to all areas of the UK.
In addition to its headquarters site, the company, which employs 150 people, has facilities in: Uddingston, near Glasgow; Fyvie, Aberdeenshire; and Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Steadmans is now within the building solutions division of FTSE 250 index-listed group SIG plc, which has over 6,500 employees in more than 490 locations in the UK, plus businesses abroad and the capacity to export worldwide.
