The 23rd year of the Golf Classic tournament is well underway and the competition is intensifying as there are only two more rounds to play until the winning team is decided at the Grand Final, which this year is held at the Marriott Forest of Arden Hotel & Country Club.
The Golf Classic is the national golfing tournament for the UK construction industry. For many, the Golf Classic continues to be a relevant and vibrant social and sporting event. Many players return each year to enjoy their golf, and build business relationships. The competition attracts talented and enthusiastic golfers of all abilities from a wide variety of professions.
Gus Cutting and Andrew Witter, M&S Contractors, are two competitors who’ve taken part in the Golf Classic for a number of years. They won their match in the fourth round and explained how they enjoyed the camaraderie and the excitement of their closely fought game: “After a titanic battle ‘AWAY’ from home we eventually won on the 20th hole.
"If Carlsberg did golf matches this was probably it……..10 birdies, always fiercely contested, the match swung around 4 times, played in a fantastic spirit and one last birdie on the 20th to seal victory (I won’t mention who sank the putt).”
This year’s Grand Final is held at the Marriott Forest of Arden Hotel & Country Club. The spectacular 10,000 acre Championship Arden Course, designed by renowned golf architect,
Donald Steel, has played host to a number of international tournaments including the British Masters and the English Open.
The Grand Final offers many chances to win. All finalists enjoy free golf, gala dinner and overnight stay with prizes including £200 vouchers and an impressive trophy for the winners. There are also prizes for the runners up, nearest the pin and the longest drive so you don’t have to win to be a winner.
