To ensure its 20-property social housing scheme was in line with the Decent Homes Standard, Yorkshire Housing has recently embarked on a refurbishment project to make the homes fit for purpose. When it came to the specification of the flooring for the kitchen and bathroom areas, the housing provider chose Forbo Flooring System’s cushioned vinyl products, due to the comprehensive portfolio of styles and designs - that also ticked the boxes in terms of performance and durability.
Kitchen and bathroom areas can often be complicated areas to specify flooring for, taking into consideration requirements for safety underfoot, easy cleaning, maintenance and durability, not to mention aesthetics. Forbo’s Novilon cushioned vinyl collection provided Yorkshire Housing with the ideal solution to satisfy all requirements.
Novilon is designed to remain looking good for years to come thanks to the incorporation of Forbo’s Diamond Seal and Noviclean features, which help guard against scratches and scuff marks. In addition, Forbo’s Aquagrip laquer gives R10 slip resistance underfoot, providing Yorkshire Housing and its tenants with peace of mind when it comes to reducing the potential hazards of slips and trips – crucial to areas such as kitchens and bathrooms.
“We were thoroughly impressed with the range of colours and designs available from Forbo’s collections,” said Andy Kelham, Investment Programme Manager at Yorkshire Housing, commenting on the specification process. “With the investment being made in the refurbishment of the Harrogate properties, it was critical to specify floor coverings that would have long lasting performance as well as being hardwearing and easy to maintain - and the Novilon products easily met these needs.”
Novilon represents a collection of beautiful and inspiring floor coverings designed to complement every type of interior environment. The richness of design and wealth of choice, coupled with the practical and durable nature of vinyl, provides the ultimate floor covering to withstand the daily onslaught of home living.
A selection of designs were specified from the contemporary Novilon Viva and Viva Fusion ranges, which comprise a sophisticated mixture of metallic tiles and modern style wood effects. From the intense dark slate of the Malaga design and the cool fusion of brushed steel effects to the warm tone on tone hues of the Tarragona tile design, the Novilon collection lends itself to creating stylish and inviting interiors.
Ian Godwin Operations Manager at Able Bathing, commented on the installation: “Forbo’s Novilon product was stress free to install thanks to its flexibility, which made it easy to manoeuvre around spaces of all sizes, as well as being easy to cut on site. Overall this made an impact on the schedule of the refurbishment, meaning that all floors were finished on time - resulting in happy tenants.”
